Shut Up (englisch für „halt den Mund“ oder „sei still“) ist ein Lied der amerikanischen Gruppe The Black Eyed Peas. Es handelt von einer problematischen Liebesbeziehung; zentral ist im Song die sich wiederholende, namensgebende Aufforderung „shut up, just shut up, shut up“. Der Song wurde 2003 nach Where is the Love? als zweite Single aus dem Album Elephunk ausgekoppelt. Die Single wurde schnell ein internationaler Erfolg und erreichte die Spitze der Charts in 12 europäischen Ländern sowie Australien und Neuseeland. Shut Up war in Europa der zweiterfolgreichste Song im Jahre 2004, in den USA schaffte er es allerdings nicht in die Singlecharts.

Shut Up erzählt eine dramatische Geschichte, bei der schlechte Kommunikation in Beziehungen das Hauptthema ist. Die weibliche Rolle, gesungen von Fergie, ist von zwei Frauen inspiriert, mit denen die Bandmitglieder will.i.am und apl.de.ap eine Zeit lang ausgegangen sind.

In einer bearbeiteten Version des Knee Deep Remix von Shut Up, der auf der Deluxe-Version des Albums The E.N.D. im Jahr 2010 erschien, wurde der Song (Not Just) Knee Deep von Funkadelic gesampled. Das führte dazu, dass George Clinton, der Frontman von Funkadelic, eine Urheberrechtsklage gegen will.i.am, Fergie und Universal Music einreichte, da der Songs trotz seines Widerspruchs genutzt wurde.
