The Riddle (englisch Das Rätsel) ist ein Lied des britischen Sängers Nik Kershaw, das am 6. November 1984 veröffentlicht wurde. Es war Teil des gleichnamigen Studioalbums, das im November 1984 erschien. Das Lied erreichte hohe Chartplatzierungen in vielen europäischen Ländern sowie auch in Australien und Neuseeland. Besonders im Radio war der Song beliebt (Nummer 1 der deutschen Airplay-Charts). Nach vielen Interpretationsversuchen bezeichnete Kershaw den Liedtext als „Unsinn“.

Von zahlreichen Coverversionen waren Neuaufnahmen von Gigi D’Agostino (1999) und Mike Candys & Jack Holiday (2012) mit großem kommerziellen Erfolg in diversen Ländern die erfolgreichsten.
